View Full Version : Paused Rep Considerations

I generally have more wedge shaped force curves when it comes to bench and squat, and as well as following the rep/intensity recommendations, I have naturally, been doing pause work.

But then I began thinking, when adding in longer pauses (3-5 cnts), the lifts tend to be a lot more flat in their force curves. Does this mean we should start training these paused lifts in the same way we train flat force curved lifts? Maybe even include RTS-style "speed work" (i.e. 1-3 reps, working up to an 8)?

Thoughts or suggestions?

No. Keep the goal the goal. In this case the goal is bench, so train for that. Don't be distracted by training for pause bench.

Thanks.

I do have the tendency to get caught up on the lifts themselves and not the overall goal I'm working for. Will keep that in mind.
