NAIROBI, Feb. 17 (Xinhua) -- Kenya's film industry generated 72 million U.S. dollars in 2016, creating direct and indirect employment to more than 100,000 people, officials said on Friday.

Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) CEO Dr Ezekiel Mutua told a media briefing in Nairobi that with the new advancements in technology such as the emergence of Over the Top Service providers and Digital Television broadcasting, the industry promises to generate even more income in 2017.

"There is no doubt that the film industry will make a great contribution to the country's economy, enhancing Kenya's Gross Domestic Product drastically," Mutua said during a ceremony to sponsor the Riverwood Academy Awards 2017.

The KFCB has embarked on a series of reforms aimed at facilitating growth in the industry.

The film regulator has also initiated the process of reviewing the Film and Stage Plays Act to spur growth in the creative industry and to protect children from being exposed to harmful film and broadcast content.

The CEO added that the board is implementing initiatives to support local artistes and producers.

"Our main goal is to nurture talent and create opportunities for training for players in the industry, and more employment opportunities through entrepreneurial ventures in the creative sector," he added.

Mutua said that the expansion of the sector will be achieved through training and exposing local producers to new technologies in film production.

The film regulator is also in the process of establishing a cutting-edge Creative Arts Center of Excellence.

The CEO said that the facility will provide training opportunities in various creative arts, including film and music, and will provide production equipment to aspiring producers at subsidized rates.

The centre will be a one-stop hub for nurturing creative talent among the youth.

Mutua said that Kenya has some of the best filming locations in the world and so there is need to work together with all stakeholders to turn these advantages into money-making ventures for our artistes.

"This will in turn increase the volume of content produced locally so that the country can attain the 40 percent local content threshold that is expected of broadcasters in order to promote local creators of content and reclaim Kenyan culture, national values and aspirations," Mutua added. Enditem

In a past newsletter Fernando Rodney Jersey , Howard Ruff described how the crocodile attack that claimed the most human lives happened on February 19, 1945 when part of the Imperial Japanese Army unit guarding a stronghold on the Burmese island of Ramree was outmaneuvered by a British naval force. The Japanese soldiers were forced to cross 10 miles of mangrove swamps to rejoin a larger battalion of the Japanese infantry. The swamps were home to thousands of 15-ft saltwater crocodiles. By the next morning, only 20 of the original 1,000 Japanese soldiers had survived.

After reading this story, I was dumb founded. And I began wondering about the crocodile infested mangrove swamps that exist in our daily lives. In order to achieve the success we're after in our lives, what are the crocodile like challenges we must equip ourselves to overcome?

I believe the ugliest and the baddest of the crocodiles are the crocodiles that lurk in our own minds. Specifically, they are the self limiting beliefs and other thoughts that don't serve us, but which we insist on hanging onto. I'm willing to bet that each of us has thousands of self limiting beliefs that we buy into every day. Often without even realizing that's what we are doing.

What do you suppose it takes to successfully achieve your dreams? What do you suppose it took for those 20 surviving soldiers to avoid being eaten and make their way to the other side?

To overcome the crocodiles, it's necessary to start from the end. Be larger than yourself in terms of vision and goals, trust in the magic of your belief, and then follow-through with unwavering persistence. There is a magical moment when you finally really, really believe in what is possible for yourself and what you are able to achieve - well beyond what you may have previously considered.

This is often what you experience when you have breakthrough success in a new venture (be it a home business, a new project, venture or otherwise). You may have started out doing what you knew you had to do because you see an opportunity that is so attractive and because there is a process that makes logical sense to you.

But the tipping point comes when as the results begin manifesting, you are finally able to believe completely in what you can do and those lingering doubts vanish. You can see the progress you are making towards your goals and you create a vision larger than yourself that you believe unequivocally - and that is when everything explodes exponentially.

Imagine how impenetrable those soldiers' belief in their ability to cross the swamps must have been and the degree of doubt they had to overcome in order for them to survive. Consider the spectacle of the feeding frenzy amongst the crocodiles and how it must have looked and sounded. The degree of fear and self limiting beliefs each soldier had to overcome is astounding. And consider the degree of commitment and follow-through that was absolutely necessary to make it to the other side. Everything relied upon instant decisions and follow-through if they were to survive. There was no room for hesitation.

Few of the soldiers survived the crossing of the mangroves. Similarly, few people ever survive the crossing of the crocodile swamps in their minds and so fail to live out their dreams. But for those that do, it is due to their focus and vision, the absolute belief in their vision that they carry, and their unf.
