George Asafo-Adjei Jordan Reed Jersey , OT/OGSchool: Kentucky | Conference: SECCollege Experience: Senior | Age: 22?Height/Weight: 6-5 / 315 lbsProjected Draft Status: 3rd Round NFL Comparison: Billy TurnerCollege StatisticsN/APlayer OverviewKnown as “Big George” on the football field George Asafo-Adjei just might be one of the most underrated tackle/guard prospects this year. He committed to Kentucky in 2015 and was the first freshman during Head Coach Mark Stoops tenure to avoid being given a redshirt. He started immediately at right tackle. It wasn’t smooth sailing for him at first though. He lost the job his freshman season after a few games and was moved to guard during his sophomore season. His coaches credit this transition and experience as essential to George’s growth into the player he is now. He moved back to RT his junior year and has held down that position since. Asafo-Adjei is now considered one of Kentucky’s best offensive lineman, recognized twice this season as SEC offensive lineman of the week. I think Asafo-Adjei is one of the more consistent and reliable RT prospects in this draft. He is leader on the offensive side of the ball and was voted team captain. His teammates credit him for his professionalism and influence on them regarding work ethic and how to prepare. He has held his own against challenges from top competition and should be receiving a lot more press as this draft season kicks into gear. StrengthsGood size, height, and I daresay length (without official measurements) for the position. If he’s going to play tackle in the NFL (I think he should) He could stand to add a little more weight. Very strong. The biggest thing that stands out about him is his footwork and ability to adjust to EDGE rushers. It’s beautiful the way he was able to handle rushers all season long but especially the EDGE players from Miss St, Florida, and Tennessee. Plays with good awareness, arm extension is great, once he gets hands on his defender he can really lock on. Absorbs defenders power and can counter. Keeps his feet moving through the play. Creates nice solid arch on right side of the pocket. Really solid in pass protection. Displays really good body control on the run. For a tackle of his size he shows really great leverage and balance. He’s able to push and turn defenders to seal off running lanes. Praised for his leadership and professionalism.WeaknessesWhile impressive in close quarters I’m not completely sold on his athleticism especially in space. He was late to a few screens and sometimes has trouble finding work at the second level. Would love it if he developed a solid punch and swat move instead of relying on moving step for step against defenders. When he has “free time” he should remain vigilant on his side (as he does) but he should also look to help out his teammates still working. Let’s see his work:Look for #64 (RT)More George Asafo-Adjei videosHow He Would Fit On The RedskinsThe Redskins looked to the future when drafting Geron Christian last year in the 3rd round at the LT position. This year they could and probably should look to the future at the RT position and Asafo-Adjei would be a good player to consider. Ty Nsekhe is not under contract next season and he is 33 years old. Morgan Moses has been a warrior at RT but has been plagued by injuries and bluntly his play has deteriorated. If it doesn’t improve the Redskins could move on from him as early as the 2020 season. Asafo-Adjei has a lot of the fundamentals under his belt already it’s just a matter of him cleaning some things up and ultimately being more active though his reps. Coaching can teach ‘finding work’ through a rep Ryan Kerrigan Jersey , it can teach punch and counter moves. The big question for him will be his movement skills and athletic testing numbers to an extent. I think he could come in and surprise with his play at RT as early as his rookie year. Also because of his past experience at guard he adds a little more value to this Redskins team who unfortunately has had to shuffle players all over the line the past few years. I mentioned that he could put on a little more weight if he wanted to but that may not be necessary if he does not kick inside and stays at right tackle. The Redskins have real depth needs at the position that could become starter needs in a blink. Given the injuries that have plagued the position it would be wise to invest in more young talent. Vasquez-USA TODAY SportsFor once, in what feels like way too long, the Redskins put together a sensational draft. On this week’s Pig Pen Podcast I broke down all the positives from the Redskins draft and the team’s long-term focus. In a weird turn of events, Joe Theismann critiqued newest Redskins Dwayne Haskins’ language after he was selected. The Super Bowl-winner two took aim at the phrase, “the league done messed up Vernon Davis Jersey ,” which Haskins proclaimed to the world. Less than a day after making those comments Theismann granted Haskins permission to wear his number–which was unofficially retired from the Redskins.I close up shop this week with an internal debate between me, myself and I about how the Redskins should handle Josh Doctson’s fifth-year option. Let me know how you think it should be handled, @Denton_Day.If you haven’t already be sure to subscribe to the Hogs Haven Podcast network on Apple Podcasts, Google Play, Stitcher, and Spotify.
